International sled dogs event Balto Sügiskross 2017 is Baltic Cup IV event and IFSS World Cup 2017-2018 Accredited Event.

Balto Sügiskross 2017 is held according to IFSS race rules and Baltic Cup 2017 regulations.

TRACK
The length of the track is 5,0 km in all classes except in the kids´ canicross which is 600 metres long. The track is best described as a forest trail with slight ascents and descents.

We are excited to announce that for the first time in Estonia we will have a dual start race in DS, BJ and DC classes! Starting list for the first day will be determined by draw, second day starts will be according to first day results. In canicross there will be a mass start on the second day (not in the kids’ race). The starting corridor will be divided with nets for a few hundred metres.

RACE CATEGORIES
1. Open class
All dogs excluded from the nordic breed category.

2. FCI registered nordic breed dogs:
RNB1: siberian huskies
RNB2: alaskan malamutes, greenland dogs and samoyeds

The Nordic breed category will be awarded separately in each race class under the following terms:
1. At least 5 nordic breed entries in one class. This term does not apply to the canicross classes.
2. In Dog Scooter and rig classes (DS1, DS2 and DR4, DR6) the nordic breed category is divided into RNB1 and RNB2 subcategories under the condition that they each have at least 5 entries in RNB1-category and RNB2-category.


DEMANDS FOR DOGS
All competing dogs must be healthy, vaccinated and microchipped. In bikejoring and dog scooter classes the dogs must be at least 18 months old. In dog rig and canicross classes the dogs must be at least 12 months old. In kids´ canicross the dogs must be at least 5 months old. All dogs racing in nordic breed category must have a FCI registrated pedigree, otherwise they have to compete in open class. Besides the main class, a dog can also take part once in canicross or once in the kids´ canicross class. Switching dogs during the competition is not allowed. It is mandatory to present the dog´s veterinary passport at the on-site veterinary check.


DEMANDS FOR COMPETITION EQUIPMENT
All competition equipment must be in accordance with the IFSS race rules. Competitors are allowed to share their equipment with one person if they have notified the organisers via registration form and if they do not start twice using the same equipment.

Competitor´s second start – 15€ off the registration fee.
Registration fee includes a bottle of water, lunch and dinner on Saturday evening. Musher’s dinner for non contestants is 10€ per person.

Dinner is free for competitors! Extra ticket 10€ per person.


AWARDS
All competitors that finish the race receive a diploma, the first three from each class receive a cup and special prizes from various sponsors. If there are at least 5 veterans or juniors in the bikejoring, one dog scooter and canicross class they will be awarded separately from adults.

Jõulumäe Sports and Recreation Centre is big enough to accommodate all the participants!
NB! Dogs are allowed in the rooms for a fee of 6 € for the whole stay and they need to be kept in cages.
It is possible to book breakfast for saturday (14th October) and sunday (15th October) and lunch for Sunday. One meal costs 4 € per person. Non-contestants can also book soup for saturday lunch which is free for participants. Meals have to be booked along with accommodation by  writing an e-mail to info@joulumae.ee or calling +372 445 6117. When booking meals put down the date, breakfast, lunch or dinner and the quantity.
