Balto Sügiskross 2020 veokoeraspordi võistlus Valgehobusemäe

Balto Sügiskross 2020 is held according to IFSS race rules (updated May 2020). Race organiser is Sled Dogs Club Baltosport. IFSS Race Marshal: Ülle Aaslav-Kaasik (IFSS Race Judge), Race Judge: Margus Harak, Trail master: Richard Põldmaa.

The competition is two-day race, which means that in order to receive the result, the track must be passed both on Saturday and Sunday, because the times of both days will be summarised. Timing will be done with chips.

TRACK

The length of the track is about 4,65 km in all classes except in the kids´ canicross – DCK1, DCK2  and youth canicross (DCY) 550 metres long. The track is best described as a forest trail with ascents and descents.



Starting list for the first day will be determined by draw, second day starts will be according to first day results. In canicross there will be a mass start on the second day (not in the kids’ race). The starting corridor will be divided with nets for a few hundred metres.

In the dog cross classes (except DCK1 and 2 and DCY) will be used pair starts (it means that two competitors start at the same time). The start corridors are separated by networks.
The start list for the first day is based on the draw, the starts for the second day will be based on the results of the first day.
False turns will be blocked by a net, marker tape or sign.

KIDS’ AND YOUTH CANICROSS
DCK1 (boys and girls) – birth year from 2013.
DCK2 (boys and girls) – birth year from 2011 to 2012.
DCY (boys and girls) – birth year from 2008 to 2010. If possible, separate classes DCWY and DCMY will be opened.


Race categories

  1. Open class
    All dogs excluded from the nordic breed category.
  2. FCI registered nordic breed dogs:
    RNB1: siberian huskies
    RNB2: alaskan malamutes, greenland dogs, samoyeds and yakutian laikas

The Nordic breed category will be awarded separately in each race class under the following terms:

  1. At least 5 nordic breed entries in one class. This term does not apply to the canicross classes.
  2. In Dog Scooter and rig classes (DS1, DS2 and DR4-6) the nordic breed category is divided into RNB1 and RNB2 subcategories under the condition that they each have at least 5 entries in RNB1-category and RNB2-category.

All competing dogs must be healthy, vaccinated and microchipped. Dogs participating in all main classes must be at least 18 months old on the day of the competition. In kids´ and youth canicross the dogs must be at least 12 months old. All dogs racing in nordic breed category must have an FCI registered pedigree, otherwise, they have to compete in open class. Besides the main class, a dog can also take part once in canicross or once in the kids´ canicross class. Switching dogs during the competition are not allowed. It is mandatory to present the dog´s veterinary passport at the on-site veterinary check. 

The race veterinarian is Terje Vanahans from Lahemaa Animal Centre veterinary clinic. She and her assistant(s) will be at the race site on Saturday and Sunday.

All competition equipment must be in accordance with the IFSS race rules. 

Race Marshall and the judge will randomly check in the Stake-out area and the start area before the start the accordance of the competition equipment and used animal welfare measures.

NB! From current season the use of carabiners that do not comply with the IFSS rules is no longer allowed in the competition area (incl. on leashes, on stake-out lines, etc.!).

Competitors are allowed to share their equipment with one person if they have notified the organisers via the registration form and if they do not start twice using the same equipment.

From 26.10 to 31.10, registration is no longer possible.

Changing an already registered class from 07.09 to 11.10 is free of charge. Without a good reason (e.g. veterinary indication, accident, etc.) the fee for changing the class from 26.10 to 29.10 is 15 €. From 30.10, it is no longer possible to change the class.

Competitor´s second start – 10€ off the registration fee.

Registration fee includes a soup on Saturday.
Soup for non-contestants on Saturday is 3€.

AWARDS

All competitors who finish the race receive a digital diploma, the first three from each class where is at least 5 competitors (3 in rig classes) receive a cup/medal, dry dog food from Polaris and wet dog food from Dolina Noteci and Piper from our race sponsors. If there are at least 5 youth, juniors or veterans in the bikejoring, one dog scooter and canicross class they will be awarded separately from adults.

The competition organiser reserves the right to make some changes if necessary. Please refer to our website or Facebook event for additional information.


COVID19

Due to the possible pandemic situation in Estonia and in the world caused by the coronavirus Covid-19 and therefore due to the possible decision of the Government of the Republic of Estonia valid before and during the competition, the competition conditions may change. It is also possible to cancel the competition due to the establishment of a special situation.

In case of possible cancellation of the competition or due to the possible closure of the state border for foreign competitors (i.e. in a situation where the competition can only be organized with national level), the organizing committee will immediately inform all competitors.

In case of possible cancellation of the competition, the participation fees which are already paid, will be partially or fully refunded based on the time between the planned time of the event and the moment of announcement of the possible special situation.

The organizing committee will immediately announce about changes in the situation and inform about them both on recent page and on the Facebook event’s page.
